The Egyptians Will Know

Looking at the Children of Israel, as they are leaving the land of Egypt, there was constant unbelief, murmuring,  and the questioning of God and His nature.  Questions and complaints were constantly issued, “Why did you allow this?  Would it not have been better if …? Have you lead us out into the wilderness to kill us here?”  Concerning Israel’s crossing of the Red Sea, when the Egyptians were following after them, God says in Exodus 14:18, “then the Egyptians will know that I am The Lord, when I have gained honor for Myself over Pharaoh.”
God says that the Egyptians will know that He is The Lord, but somehow the Israelites missed out on that benefit.  Egypt knew God as Lord because they experienced His judgement – their armies and chariots were destroyed within the Red Sea.  Yet on the other side, the Israelites received the protection, the destruction of their enemy and benefits of the power of God, but the Israelites failed to fully know God.  Again and again the Israelites would murmur and complain – even in the midst of God providing and God doing much on their behalf.
Philippians 2:10, 11 says that every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus is Lord.  God used His divine power, in judgement, to bring the Egyptians to the knowledge of Him.  In Romans 2:4 we are told “that the goodness of God leads you to repentance”.  Every knee will bow and all will proclaim Him as Lord.  What will it take for you to see Him as Lord – God’s judgement and destruction or His goodness?  The choice is up to you!
Jesus, we want to be those who quickly see and acknowledge You as Lord.  As Lord, we want to quickly submit all aspects of our lives to Your rulership.
