Thank you for giving!

The Women’s Events Ministry would like to thank everyone for their generous donations towards the Crisis Pregnancy Centre at our November event – “Baskets of Blessings.”  As the women arrived, we were overwhelmed to see four tables covered with generous donations for both the moms and their babies!   Also, many people who weren’t able to attend the event dropped off donations as well.  Thank you!  Thank you!  Thank you!

After hearing from our special guests and enjoying a delicious dessert, lots of laughter was heard as we put the baskets together to our version of hot potato, which included a rubber bath toy and a duck whistle!  Each group signed a card to the mom and her baby with words of encouragement.

On November 16, nine women delivered the baskets to the Crisis Pregnancy Centre.  The staff were overwhelmed and very grateful for the donations!  We were told that the Centre relies on donations and with the colder weather and Christmas around the corner, ours came at a good time. The Program Coordinator, Marlene, shared eye-opening information with us as well as a tour of the facility. Their unconditional, non-judgmental, grace-filled love for the people they serve was very apparent.  One of the women that came said, “I was humbled by the whole experience.  Can’t remember the last time I felt so insignificant and so blessed at the same time.”

A HUGE thank you also goes out to all the volunteers who helped with Operation Christmas Child throughout the months of October and November to distribute  and collected the Christmas Child Shoeboxes.  Thanks also to the generosity of our Church of the Rock congregation who filled and donated items for 450 boxes.  With the participation of 12 other churches, community organizations and schools, over 1240 boxes were collected at Church of the Rock  and are on their way for distribution down in South America!

The Women’s Events Ministry would like to thank everyone for their generous donations towards the Crisis Pregnancy Centre! The event – Baskets of Blessings – was held on November 2. As the women arrived, 4 tables were overwhelmingly covered with generous donations for both the Moms and their babies! Also, many people who weren’t able to attend the event dropped off donations as well. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

During the event, we heard about how we are all one church with many parts. No two parts may look alike, but each and everyone is important and needed. As well, our special guest was a 12 year old girl who shared with us how she rose to the challenge and turned the $10 given to her by her Vice-Principal, into a $1000 donation to World Vision! How did she do this – just by asking others! Some of the things her donation bought were goats, chickens and school supplies for an entire classroom! WOW!!
