God is triune in nature. The three natures of God, the Father, Son (Word) and Holy Spirit, automatically provides a social component for Him. Just as God has a social component to Himself, humans also have a social component to them. God lacks nothing, so within His own being He fulfills His own social needs. We humans do not have a self fulfilling social ability as God does. All people have a need for relational connections with others. Therefore the Bible says in Ps 68:6 that, “God sets the solitary in families; He brings out those who are bound into prosperity; But the rebellious dwell in a dry land.”
Notice that there are three types of people listed in this verse, the solitary, the bound and the rebellious. Looking from a social perspective we see the lonely are placed into familial relationships, those that are emotionally captive are ministered to with liberty or prosperity, but the rebellious are in dry places.
Could it be that those who do not connect into relationships have a rebellious nature to them? They choose to be defiant in their responses, they choose to be independent, they choose not to relate to others. Individuals may present reasons for choosing not to relate to others, such as: not wanting to be hurt by others, not having the same values, being irritated by others, etc. Yet the scriptures states that the rebellious dwell in a dry land. The key to overcoming rebellion is when we walk in submission to the Lord and to those around us. This requires relationships.
Lord Jesus, we need your help not to be rebellious, helps us to have a strong relationship with You and with the righteous people around us.
