Fort Garry Community Carnival & Picnic

This past Sunday, June 12, we held our third-annual Fort Garry Community Carnival at the Westridge Community Center. Not only was this a Love Winnipeg event, but this year we also joined forces with the church picnic team to make the day bigger and better than anything we could have done individually.  The end result was exactly that—we had more activities than ever before, and between 800 and 900 people came out to enjoy it all together!

Here are some pictures of some of the fun activities that we offered this year:

The folks who came out had so much fun that they did not want to leave.  We had line ups for the different activities right up until we had to shut things down.

The most exciting part about this story is that around half of the people in attendance on Sunday were not from our church but were from the community around the church.  We even had a politician who is running to be a MLA show up and connect with the people of the community—he obviously felt that there were enough people there from his neighbourhood to warrant spending some time there.

The feedback from the door prize ballots was very exciting – most everyone indicated that they want to be informed of the next event we will be holding.  It looks like we may need to start doing more events like this in the community!

Obviously this carnival was a huge success and I want to express my gratitude to everyone who helped make it happen.  We were only able to pull it off because of all the amazing volunteers in our church.
