On Sunday, May 26 2013, over 16,000 people from at least 93 different churches gathered together for a city-wide church service named “One Heart.” The service was held at the Investor’s Group Field, the city’s brand new venue and home to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers football club.
Church of the Rock was represented well with volunteers involved in audio/visual, ushering, new believer follow up, music and our pastor Mark Hughes delivering the message for that day. There was an offering collected that went towards developing programs for inner-city youth in the core of the city. The report from the team at the Next Steps Tables is that 242 people responded to receive Bibles & information on what it means to be a Christ-follower.
It was exciting to see the greater church of Winnipeg breaking down walls between denominations and ethnic groups, and joining together in unity celebrating one church, one God, one harvest and one heart!
