“Lord if You help me I’ll … “.  Many times people make vows or statements of what they will do when God shows up and helps them.  In Exodus chapter 8 the Egyptians are smitten by plagues and Pharaoh promises to let the Children of Israel go.  Yet, whenever Moses intercedes and the plagues are stopped the scriptures say that, “when Pharaoh saw that there was relief, he hardened his heart and did not heed them,” (Exodus 8:15 NKJV). How many times have we made commitments and promises to God, but then pull back when the pressures are gone. This was how Pharaoh responded. Unfortunately, the more he pushed off doing what was important, the more it brought pain to himself and the people around him.  Ultimately the closest people to him were those who suffered the most.

At times God uses the pressures around us to bring us to the point of wanting to change. Don’t push off the changes that are necessary for a successful life in God. Keep your commitments to The Lord.

Take a moment to remember the past promises you have made to God and then ask God to help you to keep these promises.
