Early yesterday morning, Thursday Junes 19th, my father, Harry Eberhard, passed away to meet Jesus face to face. Dad was known for his love for the Lord Jesus, his love for prayer and his generosity to others and to the kingdom of God. Through his life, he made it his objective to never miss a church service, whether a regular weekend, in a different community or on holidays, he would always be at the house of the Lord.
He had a unique skill at fixing things, so he would always have projects before him, swapping parts from discarded appliances or tools or buying new parts, to make the article work. Consequently he would mentor and teach me so that I too could be a repairer of the broken things, whether they were electrical, mechanical or of human nature.
During his last months his physical and mental body was failing him, but his spirit was strong in his sensing of God and the burden of God. Many times in the last months when I visited him I would find him sobbing in tears. When I asked why he was crying he said he was concerned for the lost. Those that did not know Jesus. Then we would pray. Though our conversations would often drift everywhere when talking about natural things, when he prayed he instinctly seemed to pray appropriately.
Harry, Dad, will be missed by many, but as a family our trust is that whether living or dying, his life will help bring others closer to our Lord Jesus. Now he is rejoicing in heaven with a new body, a new mind and a close face to face walk with Jesus.  May you too walk in the certainty of this eternal life in Jesus.
