How confident are we, that God is in control of every aspect of our life?

In Jeremiah 26:2, God tells Jeremiah that there was a specific message that he was to deliver.   Jeremiah knew that he was called to be faithful, to not diminish the word that God had challenged him to speak.  However, when the word was delivered, it was not well received.  In fact the people rose up in anger and frustration, wanting to kill Jeremiah.   With the threat of being killed, Jeremiah responds,  “As for me, here I am, in your hand; do with me as seems good and proper to you. (Jer. 26:14)

This statement was not some bravado or bold rhetoric spoken to challenge the opposition; it was a reality in the heart of Jeremiah.   Jeremiah was walking out the principle that Jesus taught in Matthew 10:28, “do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul”.   Jeremiah had no great concern whether his life was taken from him or not; he was satisfied he had done what God had asked of him, and would do the same thing again, if he was required to do it again; and therefore, they could proceed just as they pleased against him.  He was resting in his God and the results were up to the Lord.

Do you exhibit this peace and confidence as a result of knowing that you are in the hands of The Lord Jesus, no matter what happens outwardly?

Lord Jesus, we give our lives to Your Lordship.  Lord free us from the fears of those around us, and enable us to be more obedient to you.
