How many times have you thought to yourself, “Ok, I’ll do this, but I would rather not”.  Unfortunately many times that is partly tied into our response to God.  We know we should enjoy being with Him, or that we should enjoy reading His word, but we would rather do something else.
In Psalm 84:10, the Psalmist says that, “For a day in Your courts is better than a thousand. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of wickedness.”  These are challenging words for, if we were honest with ourselves, we’d agree that these words don’t really reflect where we are at.  When it comes to our actions and our desires, instead of being in God’s courts, we would rather hang out with friends; we would rather see a movie or play video games; we would rather take a cruise to the Caribbean or go skiing or go to the beach.
We might not be at the place of saying that, “I’d rather be in the presence of God than…”, but you can start moving in that direction.  Knowing what is right, take time, even a small amount of time, to move closer in heart towards our Lord, knowing that He will draw closer to you. (James 4:8)
