1 Timothy 6:5,6 says that there are those “who suppose that godliness is a means of gain. From such withdraw yourself. Now godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.”
A young Haitian pastor eagerly asked, “What is the faith condition like in Canada?  You people have so many things, you must have great faith!”  With shame I answered, “No, we have little true faith, we just have much stuff, and these things are the objects of the average Canadian’s attention.  We have many things and therefore we don’t need God for much, we replace our need for God with the things we have.”
How sad that this Haitian pastor thought that godliness and faith was seen by the amount of possession that one has.  Yet many times we Canadians focus so much on what we have, that these things are like a god to us. We feel that we need more of these things, than we need our walk with The Lord.
Lord Jesus, we are blessed with many physical things, but may our greatest fulfillment always be that we focus upon our personal walk with you.
