1 Kings 18:17-18 says, ” Then it happened, when Ahab saw Elijah, that Ahab said to him, “ Is that you, O troubler of Israel?”  And he answered, “I have not troubled Israel, but you and your father’s house have, in that you have forsaken the commandments of the Lord and have followed the Baals.”

It is easy to blame others for our problems, but how rarely do we examine ourselves first.  We blame the government, our spouse, our family, our culture, the neighbours, everyone else but ourselves.  Yet, it is only ourselves that we can change. Start by examining your own life, search for the speck or the log in your eye and work on that area first (Matt 7:1-4).

Lord, it is easy to find fault with others, help us to be honest with ourselves about our own  nature and struggles.  Then as we bring these areas before You in repentance give us the strength to move forward into the victory that You have for us.
