Jesus teaches me important things.

Bible Story

Prodigal Son

MEMORY VERSE

“The people were amazed at his teaching.”

Matthew 7:28, NCV

Engagement Questions

  • Who teaches you important things?
  • Who does God love no matter what?

Prayer

“Dear God, thank You for sending Jesus to teach us important things, like how You love us no matter what! You love (say child’s name) and me no matter what! That’s amazing! We love You, God! In Jesus’ name, amen."

ENGAGE IN EVERYDAY MOMENTS TOGETHER

Morning Time

When you go into your child’s room, cuddle them and say: "Good morning, [child's name]! I love you so, so, so much! I will always love you no matter what. And guess what! Jesus teaches us that God loves us no matter what too!"

Drive Time

While on the go, each of you share a time when you needed to say, "I'm sorry." Talk about how we can always go to God, even when we need to say we're sorry for making a wrong choice, because God loves us no matter what.

Cuddle Time

Cuddle with your child and pray: "God, [child's name] and I are so thankful that You love us no matter what. Jesus teaches us that nothing will ever make you stop loving us, and that is awesome! Help us talk to you when we make a wrong choice because we know You will always forgive us and love us."

Bath Time

As you help your child bathe, say, "I love you when you're silly. I love you when you're sleepy. I love you when you get mad. I love you when you cry. I love you when you laugh. I love you when you feel sick. I love you when you... (continue naming all the times you love your child). I love you no matter what! Jesus teaches us that God loves you no matter what too!
