After completing a Bachelor of Arts with Biblical Studies at Canadian Mennonite University and working as a Student Recruiter, Mathew Povey joined Church of the Rock staff as a ministry intern in September 2014, a natural choice after years of being a youth ministry volunteer. It didn’t take long for him to prove himself as an intern and Mathew took the position as Senior High Youth Director in September 2015. Shortly after, Mathew expanded his scope to include Junior High as well, accepting the position as Youth Director in November 2017.
Mathew has always walked alongside students, helping them to encounter God, find their purpose, walk in their God-given potential, and ultimately, influence their world. Mathew unapologetically presents truths to students and empowers them to action, always encouraging them with affirmation and stories dashed with his pleasantly quirky humour. He is excited to be able to serve students and help them grow, but is most excited when students step out in their faith and serve in their own communities.
