There are a wide variety of opportunities to volunteer, ranging from one-time events to ongoing commitments, from behind-the-scenes tasks to front-and-center positions, from working with preschoolers to working with senior adults! With this variety, you are sure to find an area that best fits your interests, gifts, and availability.

Kidz Rock

Our goal is to partner together with parents to impact children to become devoted followers of Jesus. Encouraging them to reach their full potential by teaching God’s word and sharing His love. If you’re passionate about seeing kids grow in their faith, have a sincere love for the Lord, are faithful, dependable and friendly, then Kidz Rock is the place for you! 

Positions Available: Teachers, Assistants, Baby Rocks 

Approximate Time Commitment: Every second month or twice per month.
Prerequisite: Completion of Foundations of the Rock course.

Set-Up/Tear-Down Crew

The Bronx Park Set-up/Teardown CREW is a passionate group of godly people who desire to create an attractive and effective place of worship each week for the community.  We strive for excellence in execution with attention to detail for the ultimate goal of drawing people closer to God. The CREW is a crucial role for a portable campus as they are responsible for transforming a community centre into a house of worship and then tearing it down again ready for the next week, amazingly all in 60 minutes. 

Positions Available: Screen/Video, Backdrop/Stage, Chairs, Lighting, Worship Set-up, Kidz Rock/First Impressions, Team Lead 

Approximate time commitment: Sunday 8 AM-9:15 AM and 11:30 AM-12:30 PM (twice a month.)

CRAVE

Technology has become a big part of how we carry out our vision to impact our city, our country, and the nations. With CRAVE, we want to build a team that desires excellence and is motivated to serve with a good attitude. For all technical positions, previous experience is an asset but not a requirement as training is provided. 

Positions available: Audio Tech, Visuals, Lighting Tech, Camera Operator, Video Editor

Worship Team

We believe that our time with God should be a joyful experience and that all who attend would feel free to participate as they are most comfortable.  Our praise and worship includes both high energy/upbeat music and more reflective songs.  Join the team and make a difference.

Youth

God’s plan is not for the youth of this generation to live just ordinary lives, but to realize their potential to accomplish great things for God.  God is raising them up to move and lead others into the awesome plans that He has for them.

1st Impressions

GREETERS 

Greeting guests at church is an important part of our First Impressions ministry.  You are the first person a visitor may meet on a Sunday morning, and as we all know, first impressions can make a huge impact! 

USHERS 

Our church ushers play an important role in helping people experience a wonderful worship service. Whether it’s a warm greeting, helping a person/family find a seat or being available for whatever comes up, our ushers desire to help people feel right at home. 

Positions Available: Greeters, Ushers 

Approximate Time Commitment:  1 Sunday per month

Discovery

The Discovery Team play an important role after the service and is key to the future discipleship of believers.  To find out more connect with Arnold & Carolyn Menaar after the morning service at the Discovery Table.

Kidz Rock

Every week, Kidz Rock plans activities that include Bible stories, songs, crafts, games, prayer and discussion. All of our programs are age-appropriate, fun, safe and rich in opportunities for learning and serving.

If you are passionate about seeing kids grow in their faith, have a sincere love for the Lord, are faithful, dependable and friendly, then Kidz Rock is the place for you!

Positions Available: Preschool Room Helpers, Elementary Room Small Group Leaders, Elementary Room Helpers, Nursery Helpers

Collide

Every Monday evening kids ages 8-12 have an opportunity to join in our Collide program to learn Bible stories, play games, build peer relationships, grow in their understanding of God and eat snacks. We are looking for team members to build relationships with the kids and families apart of the program and help facilitate the program in the evening.

Positions Available: Small Group Leaders, Game Leaders, Registration Volunteer, Snack Prep Volunteer,

Youth

We believe middle school and high school students are experiencing unique phases in their life, and they matter. We want to help students engage with an EVERY DAY FAITH so they can be living as followers of Jesus. We are looking for youth leaders to help facilitate a weekly Bible Study, lead activities, and build relationships with the youth and their families.

Worship Team

The worship team is a great place for those interested in using their musical gifts and talents. Our worship team is responsible for leading during Sunday morning services and other ministry events throughout the year.

CRAVE

First Impressions

Greeters

The greeting team are the first people our church family and first-time guests interact with when they step into our building. Greeters help make church an excellent experience for everyone coming through our doors.

Approximate Time Commitment:  Once a month rotation

Coffee Services

It just wouldn’t be church without coffee! It’s a time for our church family to connect and fellowship together. Relationships are part of our DNA here at COTR and so we are looking for team members to be a part of making that happen.

Approximate time commitment is Sunday mornings before and after the service as you are available.

English as an Additional Language (EAL) Classes

We are seeking volunteers to help with facilitating conversational English sessions with those looking to further develop and practice their English. Training or experience teaching English as an additional language is an asset but not required.

As well, we are looking for childcare workers who would be willing to care for any children ages 0-12. Child care workers would be responsible for planning activities, games and crafts for children attending. All child care workers will be required to complete our child care protection procedures before starting.

Prayer Team

The prayer team is looking for individuals to join with them in praying for the needs of others. All you need is a heart for prayer, and a willingness to be used by God as well. There are opportunities to join the prayer team on Sunday morning and additional ministry events.

Special Events Team

This team gets to do all the fun stuff! They are involved with the Par-Tay in the Foy-Yay, Laughing all the Way Christmas Event and other exciting events. Time requirement is flexible and just need a heart to serve. Email gwen@churchoftherock.ca to sign up or for more info.


Bike Ministry

Join this exciting team of volunteers that meet every Wednesday night to work on fixing up and re-furbishing bikes. These pre-loved bikes are given away during the various community events during the year. No sign up or experience is required, they will train you. Just show up on any Wednesday night at 7pm, use the east doors marked Bike Drop Off.


World Café

Our World Café is looking for some fun, energetic individuals to help with preparing and serving specialty drinks  during our weekend gatherings. No experience required, our baristas will train you. Email sofia@churchoftherock.ca to find out more.

Prayer Team

The “After Service” prayer team is looking for individuals to join with them in praying for the needs of others. All you need is a heart for prayer, a willingness to be used by God as well as be available after one of the weekend services. Please fill out the above form if interested.


Youth Ministry (Gr. 6-12)

First Impressions

The First Impressions Ministry would love to have you join our team! We are a group of outgoing, friendly people who love to serve those who enter our doors.

Currently, we have openings for Greeters, Ushers and Guest Services during our Sunday morning services.

Greeters

The greeters are the “face” of Church of the Rock and having a friendly face welcoming our church family into the building is top priority. Together with the other 1st Impressions team members they help make church an excellent experience for first time guests as well as those coming back week after week, year after year.

We are looking for friendly, team-spirited volunteers who are outgoing, compassionate, and who have a heart for God and serving people.

  • Approximate Time Commitment:  1 service every 3 weeks

Ushers

The church ushers team plays a vital role in the hospitality and welcome ministry of the church. Together with church greeters, church ushers help attendees experience a wonderful worship service through their oversight of the Sanctuary and assisting with offering, communion and helping seat people if needed.

We are looking for team-spirited volunteers who are outgoing, compassionate, and who have a heart for God and serving people.

  • Approximate Time Commitment:  1 service every 3 weeks
  • Prerequisite: completion of the Foundations of the Rock course

Guest Services

Guest Services is a great place to learn more about  the church and its services and to get help in navigating the building.

Other than your great smile, the following qualities are also needed:  a friendly, compassionate demeanour that helps people feel a sense of belonging; detail-oriented with the ability to problem-solve quickly. We will provide information and training resources for answering questions that may come.

  • Approximate Time Commitment: 1 service every 3 weeks  (20 mins before & after)
  • Prerequisite: Completion of the Foundations of the Rock course.

Monitors

Monitors play an important role in keeping our church a safe and friendly place for all who enter our doors. They routinely check the Kidz Rock classroom, hallways and restrooms to ensure there are no situations that could potentially pose a risk.

  • Approximate Time Commitment:  1 month on, 1 month off
  • Prerequisite: completion of the Foundations of the Rock course.
