I want to see; more answered prayers, more healings taking place, greater ability to communicate, more of the power of God, more effective evangelism. Isn’t this what most believers would want to experience?
It is one thing to say I want, or expect to see more of the working of God, but it is another thing to actually see God working. We can say that we expect God to show up and perform as we would like, putting the burden upon Him, however, if I want to see more of God working in and around me, then perhaps there is something that I must do to increase my effectiveness?
2 Timothy 2:20, 21 says, “In a wealthy home some utensils are made of gold and silver, and some are made of wood and clay. The expensive utensils are used for special occasions, and the cheap ones are for everyday use. If you keep yourself pure, you will be a special utensil for honorable use. Your life will be clean, and you will be ready for the Master to use you for every good work.” (NLT)
These verses strongly state that God’s ability to use me is determined, in part, by the extent to which
I keep my life clean and holy. Since we all want to see God working around us in more profound ways, then based upon this verse in 2 Timothy 2:20,21, God’s challenge for us would be live like we want God to work through us.
Take a moment to reflect on our actions, motives and speech. What areas do we need to change so that we would be a vessel which is better “fit for the Master’s use?” Then ask God for strategies and strength to help us change our actions, desires and communication, so that our Lord can better work through us and so we will see more of the power of God.
