Jeremiah chapter 27 contains an interesting prophecy from The Lord. God says that He is raising up Nebuchadnezzar, the king of the Babylonians, to rule over the entire region and that all the other nations were to submit to Nebuchadnezzar’s rulership.  This seems like a strange prophetic word, especially for a Jewish prophet to deliver.  For a Jew, a chosen person of God, to think that they as an individual or as a nation were to submit to a foreigner who did not follow the ways of God was a hard thing to swallow.  Yet God said that He was raising up Nebuchadnezzar for a specific purpose and all the nations around Babylon were to submit to him.  In submission to this pagan leader and pagan nation there would be peace, security and a good life.

Many times in our lives we are under the leadership of those that do not walk in the ways of The Lord, they are not Christians and do not even acknowledge Christ.  Yet there are times when God has brought these situations and these leaders before us, not to destroy, but to protect us.  We can despise those that are over us or we can try to see how God might be working through them for our good.
