It is difficult to share, minister or show love when you know that it will not be received. It is even more challenging when you know that you actions will be defiantly resisted. What do we do in those situations? This is what Moses faced. In Exodus chapter 5, the Children of Israel and Pharaoh were all aligned against Moses because he declared the words of the Lord. Moses went before God with this burden of being resisted. God encourages Moses with the declaration of what He would do to Pharaoh and with a rehearsed promise to speak to the Israelites. However after again speaking on behalf of God, the scripture says that the Children of Israel, “did not heed Moses, because of anguish of spirit and cruel bondage.” (Exodus 6:9 NKJV). So it is not going well. What do you do?
Moses persisted even though his words were not being received. What were the results? Well, Pharaoh never really did respond to the words and warnings of Moses, but over one million Israelites did respond. The persistence of Moses in the face of rejection did not have perfect results however loosing one but gaining a million, those are good returns for the continued determination to not quit when our words are not initially received.
Hang in there, the apostle Paul says in Galatians 6:9 that we should keep ministering for “in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”
